Use the weight limit as a limit, then measure your pet
Pet-weight limits range from 12 to 25 lb among 9 carriers with stated limits. PetAmi Classic has the 12 lb limit, while Kurgo G-Train and Rucksack have 25 lb limits. Kurgo Nomad has a 15 lb limit. Maker size data describes the carriers; pets were not carried, straps were not fitted and hiking comfort was not assessed. Those ratings describe different models, not interchangeable sizes; consult the maker’s animal-dimension and intended-use guidance.
PETSFIT’s Waist-Protection model has no pet-weight limit here. Its exterior size cannot fill in that missing limit.
Outside height and inside comfort are different questions
Exterior heights run from 15 to 21 in. Kurgo Nomad is 15 in tall and G-Train is 21 in tall; Nomad’s exterior sides are 11.25 in and 7.5 in, compared with G-Train’s 13 in and 10 in. Use the complete exterior dimensions to plan what you will carry, then examine the usable interior, opening and strap adjustment.
Weight and outer dimensions do not show ventilation, fit or suitability for an individual animal.
Before you buy
Will my pet fit if the weight limit is right?
Not necessarily. Outside measurements include padding and pockets, so the space inside is smaller; measure your pet sitting and lying down, then compare with the maker’s interior sizes and fit guide. Seven of the nine with a stated limit stop at 18 lb or less; only Kurgo’s G-Train (21 in tall) and Rucksack (18.5 in) reach 25 lb.
Why sort the sides into longer and shorter?
Brands label them differently. Kurgo gives the G-Train as 13 in wide by 10 in deep, while PETSFIT gives its hiking pack as 13.5 in long by 12.5 in wide, and sorting both flat measurements by size makes them comparable.
Why does one carrier have no weight limit?
PETSFIT’s Waist-Protection carrier page gives no pet weight, so it can’t pass a weight filter. You can still compare its 13 x 11 in footprint.
Can I take one of these on a plane?
Nothing here says an airline accepts them. Each airline sets its own under-seat size and pet rules, so compare those with the carrier’s outside size for your flight.
What do the 1-Way to 4 Way names on the PetAmi packs mean?
They count the openings PetAmi names: the Classic has one, the Deluxe two, the Expandable three, and the Premium and Ultimate four. More ways in might make loading a nervous pet easier.
