Which dry dog food labels promise the most protein?
ORIJEN gives the higher protein minimums. Six recipes name at least 38%, versus Open Farm's 26% and VICTOR's 22.5-30%.
Protein does not order calories: VICTOR High Energy rates 24% at 3871 kcal/kg. Match recipe to life stage.

Protein and fat minimums describe different recipe choices
VICTOR Multi-Pro has a crude-protein minimum of 22.5% and a crude-fat minimum of 10%; ORIJEN’s fish recipe has minimums of 40% protein and 16% fat. A higher protein minimum need not come with the highest fat minimum.
Protein minimums span 22.5% to 40%, and fat minimums span 10% to 20%. Preserve the minimum labels: they are not exact measured contents in each bag. These are as-fed percentages, with no dry-matter conversion.
Calories per kilogram cannot be used as calories per cup
Energy density spans 3380 to 3960 kcal/kg. VICTOR Multi-Pro is at 3380 kcal/kg, ORIJEN Puppy at 3960 kcal/kg and Open Farm Chicken Ancient Grains at 3730 kcal/kg. Compare equal food weights when reading that field.
This is label-based recipe comparison without feeding trials. The energy field gives neither calories per cup nor a serving amount for your pet. Use the exact recipe’s package instructions when you need a portion-based figure.
Keep moisture and life-stage suitability in the decision
Moisture maximums run from 9% to 12%. ORIJEN’s recipes here carry a 12% maximum, while VICTOR Multi-Pro has a 9% maximum. These maxima and the fiber figures are limits, not measurements of every bag.
Protein, fat, fiber and moisture percentages cannot settle suitability for a particular life stage or dietary need. Read the full label for the exact recipe rather than choosing solely because a percentage is higher or lower.
Before you buy
Is more protein better for my dog?
A higher minimum only means the bag promises at least that much. Age, size, activity and health set what your dog needs, so ask your vet, especially for a puppy or senior; ORIJEN and VICTOR both sell puppy recipes here. All six promise at least 38%, and Six Fish and Tundra 40%; Open Farm's eight say 26% and VICTOR's six 22.5 to 30%. Protein and calories don't track: VICTOR High Energy promises 24% protein at 3871 kcal/kg, ORIJEN Senior at the common ORIJEN protein minimum above and 3710 kcal/kg.
Are the percentages exact amounts?
They're bounds. Protein and fat are minimums and fiber and moisture maximums, all as fed, so a bag could hold more protein than its label figure; fiber, for one, can run up to 8% on ORIJEN Senior.
How much should I feed?
Calories per kilogram tell you how energy-dense a food is, from 3380 kcal/kg for VICTOR Multi-Pro up to 3960 for ORIJEN Puppy, but not a portion. Use the feeding guide on the bag, and your vet, for amounts.
Are these dry-matter figures?
They're as fed, straight from the label. Moisture maximums differ, from 9% on four VICTOR recipes to 12% on every ORIJEN, and nothing here converts the figures to a dry-matter basis.
