Pet stairs: how do step height and load ratings compare?
Step height and load ratings differ. Four models have 5 in steps: Pet Step IV pair rates 50 lb; Easy Step II PG9710EGU and Bed Stair rate 75 lb.
Taller steps have higher ratings. Measure bed or sofa height first.

Match the rise before increasing the weight limit
Pet Gear’s Easy Step II options differ: the smaller version has 5 in steps and a 75 lb pet-weight limit, while the larger standard version has 6 in steps and a 150 lb limit. A higher load limit does not give your pet a smaller climb.
Across these stairs, step heights span 5 to 6 in and maker pet-weight limits span 50 to 200 lb. Overall height is an exact selection in this finder. Compare it with the furniture height rather than treating it as a maximum-height control.
The wider stair also takes more floor space
Pet Gear’s standard Easy Step II with 6 in steps is 16 in wide; the Extra Wide version is 20 in wide and raises the maker’s weight limit to 200 lb. Those are overall widths, not tread-width measurements.
Floor lengths span 17 to 37.5 in, so leave room for the approach as well as the stair body. We compared Pet Gear’s dimensions without watching pets climb these models. A fitting footprint and load limit do not show whether your pet can use the stairs; review the model’s instructions for that decision.

Can my pet manage stairs that match my bed height?
Matching height and weight doesn't mean your pet can climb them, since a step that suits one dog could be too high for another; age, joints and confidence matter, so ask your vet if your pet has trouble moving. The width shown is the whole frame; tread widths aren't recorded here.
Which stairs are the tallest?
The Easy Step IV and Soft Step IV stand 30.5 in tall and need 33.5 in of floor. The Bed Stair is 26 in tall but runs 37.5 in long, and the height menu takes exact figures, so 19.84 in shows only the two Pet Step IV models. Higher ratings come with a taller step: all six with a 6 in step are rated up to 150 or 200 lb, the 20 in wide Extra Wide pair at the upper rating.
